The Wake the Lake campaign, built upon the idea of saving lakes all around Hyderabad can be considered to be one of the most valuable projects undertaken by United Way Hyderabad. The campaign first identifies lakes in Hyderabad that are dead or dying, after which the organization takes steps to help ensure that the lake is taken care of. This includes getting in touch with the local government as well as the communities surrounding the lake.
The list of lakes under the project include the Barla Kunta, Khajaguda and Ranganna Kunta Lake, and have all shown great progress after the care provided by UWH volunteers.
