189.2 million people in India are undernourished. The Global Hunger Index (GHI) ranked India the highest in the world for child wasting, or life-threatening malnutrition. Children are incredibly vulnerable to the disastrous effects of hunger. They are more likely to face serious health conditions, and be hospitalized. Not only does hunger affect health, it affects social, emotional, and academic development.
In addition to this, children who are orphaned, homeless, or without any caregivers are also vulnerable to abuse and exploitation. Without any opportunity to develop skills and to lead a dignified life, they often end up doing odd jobs to survive. Care and support to such children goes a long way by providing them an opportunity to mould their lives in a dignified and meaningful way. This project aims to provide much-needed care and support to shelter homes housing vulnerable children.
By providing them with nutritious food, we can help keep children happy, safe, and healthy to have the childhood they deserve. A donation of 2000 INR (30 USD) can feed one child in a shelter home with well balanced, nutritional meals for a month. This Christmas, give the gift of nutrition.
