With incessant rain ravaging the state, 2,930 villages under 96 revenue circles are currently under water in Assam. As many as 25 lakh people have been affected.
Thousands of families have lost their homes and are living in temporary camps while food lines have been cut off and drinking water sources submerged. Roads are inundated and disconnected everywhere. Affected communities have rushed to high ground, hoping for safety.
In addition, animals that sustain the livelihood of families have either been lost in the flooding or do not have feed, particularly cattle, goats, sheep, and poultry. These animals are difficult to transport, however their loss is devastating to familial income.
The need of the hour is immediate relief. United Way of Hyderabad is raising funds to ensure immediate flood relief to1000 Families in two districts of Assam - Bongaigaon and Chirag.
As we are gearing up to provide disaster relief and rehabilitation support to affected families, we are reaching out to you to seek your generous support in these trying times in Assam
